FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before, during, and after your appointment.

  • How should I prepare for my tattoo?
A little preparation goes a long way toward making your session as comfortable as possible.
Get a good night’s rest before your appointment and make sure you eat a full meal beforehand. Come hydrated and avoid drinking alcohol before your tattoo, as alcohol can affect your skin and the tattooing process.
If the area being tattooed has a lot of hair, you’re welcome to trim it beforehand with an electric trimmer.
Please do not shave the area with a razor. I will take care of any necessary shaving at the appointment.

Should I bring anything with me?
Yes! Especially for longer sessions, I recommend bringing:

    • Snacks and something substantial to eat

    • Plenty of water or another hydrating drink

    • Headphones

    • A book, tablet, or something else to keep you entertained

    • Comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed

Long tattoo sessions can be physically demanding, so keeping yourself fed, hydrated, and comfortable makes a huge difference.

Is there anything I should tell you before my appointment?
Absolutely. If you’ve had difficulty sitting for tattoos in the past, tend to feel faint, have trouble staying still for extended periods, have attention or sensory needs, or there is anything else that may affect your session, please communicate that with me beforehand.
This isn’t a problem. I simply want to know ahead of time so we can make the experience as comfortable and smooth as possible for both of us.

  • What does a tattoo session look like?
When you arrive, we’ll go over the design together, make any necessary final adjustments, determine sizing and placement, and apply the stencil.
Once we’re both happy with everything, we’ll begin tattooing.
For larger projects, sessions can be long, so we’ll take breaks when needed. I always recommend preparing for your appointment as a full-day experience rather than making plans immediately afterward.

How long will I actually be tattooed?
A full-day appointment does not necessarily mean you will be under the needle for every minute of the day.
Time is also spent preparing the design, placing the stencil, setting up, taking necessary breaks, eating, and making sure the tattoo is being executed properly.
Larger projects sometimes require multiple consecutive sessions depending on the size, placement, complexity, and how well your body responds to the process.

Will I see my design before my appointment?
Final designs are not sent out prior to your appointment. Your design will be revealed and reviewed together on the day of your scheduled appointment.
I intentionally build time into each appointment to go over the design with you, discuss placement and sizing, and make any necessary adjustments before we begin tattooing.
When booking with me, a certain level of creative trust is important. Your ideas, references, and our consultation give me the direction I need while still allowing me the creative freedom to design something unique to you and suited specifically to your body.
You will always have the opportunity to see and discuss your design before anything is tattooed.

    How long are tattoo sessions?
    A full-day session is generally around 8-10 hours, while a half-day session

    is around 4-6 hours.
This time includes the entire appointment process, not just tattooing. Design review, stencil placement, setup, breaks, and any adjustments needed throughout the day are all part of your session.
Every tattoo and every person is different, so the amount of actual tattooing time can vary.
My priority is always creating the best possible work rather than rushing to fit a piece into a specific timeframe.

  • Are deposits refundable?
All deposits are non-refundable once they are made.
Your deposit secures your appointment and compensates for the time reserved specifically

    for your project.
If you need to reschedule, your deposit may be transferred to a future appointment as long as proper notice is given.

What happens if I need to reschedule more than once?
Your original deposit can be transferred to your first rescheduled appointment.
If the appointment needs to be rescheduled again, a new deposit will be required to secure another date.

Deposits cannot be refunded or transferred outside of these terms.

  • How should I take care of my tattoo?
For most tattoos, I use Saniderm to protect the tattoo during the beginning of the healing process.
Saniderm can generally remain on for 3–4 days.
When removing it, I recommend doing so in the shower under warm water. Slowly stretch and pull the Saniderm back along the skin, rather than pulling it directly upward and away from your body.
Once removed, gently wash the tattoo with unscented soap, pat it dry with a clean paper towel, and apply a light layer of unscented moisturizer as needed.
Specific instructions may vary depending on the size, placement, and type of tattoo. I will always go over anything specific to your piece with you.

What if I’m doing multiple consecutive tattoo sessions?
For projects being tattooed over multiple consecutive days, Saniderm may not be applied until the final session.
The tattoo will be appropriately protected between sessions, and once the final session is complete, Saniderm can be applied if it is suitable for the piece and your skin.

What should I avoid while my tattoo is healing?
For at least two weeks, avoid:

    • Swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, and other bodies of water

    • Saunas and steam rooms

    • Soaking the tattoo

    • Direct sunlight or prolonged sun exposure

You can shower normally, but avoid submerging or soaking the tattoo while it heals.
Healing can vary depending on the size and placement of your tattoo, so always follow any additional instructions provided at your appointment.

What if I have questions while my tattoo is healing?
    Please reach out.
Every tattoo and every person heals a little differently, and I would much rather you ask if you’re unsure about something than guess.

  • New clients must complete the booking form to inquire about a tattoo.

Returning clients must also submit a booking form when beginning a new project. This does not apply to ongoing or existing projects.

All new projects require a completed booking form. Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee an appointment. Each submission is personally reviewed to ensure the project is the right fit before moving forward.
